PLEASE NOTE: Following the coronavirus outbreak in the UK, meetings for this group have been suspended for the foreseeable future.

SPLAT! is an informal group supported by Drumoak-Durris Church which meets every Wednesday in Drumoak Church Hall during term time for noisy musical fun! From 2:00pm - 3:15pm, we sing, play instruments, dance and march together.

Each week we use percussion instruments, rhythm sticks or whistles to accompany ourselves. We also like to bring out puppets, masks and drums. Some of the songs stay the same each week and others frequently change. We like to sing songs from around the world, weather songs, train songs, animal songs, food songs, lively Christian songs, old songs and brand new wacky ones too!

Together we explore music and begin to recognise contrasts in music such as slow/fast and high/low. We practise starting and stopping our music together, as well as attempting to keep a simple rhythm. The names of percussion instruments will be introduced as well as guests invited in to show musical talents and instruments to the children.

We charge just £2 per family as Drumoak-Durris Church kindly gives the hall free of charge and all the leaders are volunteers. We welcome all pre-school children and their mums/dads/grandparents or carers, and hope that each child will benefit from the fun musical atmosphere, whatever their age.

We aim to be a friendly group where you can get to know one another through chatting during coffee time. At 2:45pm, we serve the children juice and snacks then have a craft activity and put out toys for them. Please note that your child is your responsibility at all times.

We welcome any musical input - ideas for new songs, CDs, instruments you may play or have at home as well as suggestions for playtime. We look forward to seeing you at our SPLAT group!
